I would not recommend this printer to a friend. Wow, where do I begin. First off, the ink is outrageously expensive. I can't believe how many ink cartridges I've used. I don't know what the cost per page is, but I bet it is among the highest out there. Next, good luck setting this up on a network. OMG, I am not an IT person or an expert, but I set up a home network years ago and have maintained it for years. I've had Canon and HP printers connected to my home network no problem. But the Epson, I still haven't been able to get it to work. I've updated the drivers, but no luck. While I will say the print quality is good, and it is nice to be able to print to CD and DVD media, the printer is slow, the ink ridiculously expensive, and I haven't been able to get it to work on my network. Back to Canon for me.
