 Average Rating :
Rating : - Mac Owners Beware I gave this product 5 stars because it has a lot of functionality in a small and relatively inexpensive package. Only time will tell whether its durability is an issue, and I didn't rate the toner cartridge because I don't know how long it will last. A standard toner cartridge is supposed to print 2000 sheets, which makes the per sheet cost about 5 cents. (The printer comes with a starter cartridge which is supposed to print 1000 sheets.) The setup of the software on my wife's PC went flawlessly. Setting up the software on my Mac was not so effortless. The printer did not work after carefully following the directions in the Mac startup guide. I then went to the Apple website and found Canon printer drivers and installed them. That did not solve the problem. I then went to the Canon website and downloaded drivers for Mac OS version 10.5 and 10.6. (Leopard and Snow Leopard). With the new drivers, I tried to follow the instructions again, but the printer still didn't work. After some research on the web, I decided to ignore the instructions. Upon getting to the Add Printer screen, I did NOT press "More Printers" as suggested by the manual. Instead, I used the LPD protocol and entered the IP address and the printer type directly on that screen. That worked, and now the printer is working fine. But getting is setup was definitely a headache. In the long run, I think it will be worth it to have a network printer, but Mac owners should be prepared for a little pain.
